When we praise our war dead, let’s think about what they were asked to do and why.

Looks like Obama is seriously considering restoring funding to the Indonesian armed forces, including the murderous Kopassus organization.

Obama - congress - get a clue! Pass something that will make a real positive difference in people’s lives quickly, and they will support you.
Payback.
The last administration recklessly cut taxes on rich people twice and invaded two countries, and now retirees and sick people will be asked to pay for it all.
Wilson’s menace.
Whatever Wilson’s role may have been in fueling the Afghan war effort during the 1980s, it was not the work of one man, any more than the fall of the Berlin Wall was the result of one speech.
One more thing.
One small point about Haiti: The food is already getting to the cash markets. Why the hell don’t we just pay the foodsellers to give it to the poor?
