Available May 1, 2025 | Pre-Order April 1
Great news! Big Green’s fourth studio album, In Retrograde, is dropping May 1, 2025. It’s available for pre-order on April 1.
In Retrograde features 24 fresh tracks from your new favorite indie pop group (no, not Vampire Weekend … Big Green!). Nearly two years in the making, it’s a strangely introspective collection of retro-sounding rockers, torch songs, indie folk ballads, and quite a lot more. Kind of a departure from the usual stuff, but 100% Big Green and ready to liven up your summer playlists.
PRE-ADD / PRE-ORDER is now available on Apple Music, iTunes, and Amazon Music.
In Retrograde is distributed by CDBaby and will be available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and others. Read our album release announcement for more info, and stay tuned for updates in the coming weeks.
What’s On It?
In Retrograde includes 24 new songs composed and produced by Big Green in their lowly basement studio. Song titles and running order can be seen on the back panel of the album (which, if we were actually pressing In Retrograde, you could hold in your hands). In lieu of the actual physical article, see below for a cheap-ass image of the back panel.
Five Fast Facts about In Retrograde
- It’s Big Green’s longest album yet – In Retrograde weighs in at 24 tracks, all original, all written for this album. In fact, it would be a double album if that were still a thing (which it ain’t).
- It’s digital only – That’s right, we’re not pressing a CD this time unless people really, really, REALLY want one.
- It’s being distributed by CDBaby – We decided to roll with CDBaby as they handled our last release, Cowboy Scat: Songs in the Key of Rick, back in 2013.
- No songs about presidents or dressage horses – Unlike our last two albums, this one doesn’t have overt political or T.V. show references, though there are some mentions of veganism here and there if you listen with a stethoscope.
- It has retro album art – Kind of old fashioned, an oblique nod to the overall style of the recordings (60s – 70s rock). And yes, there’s a robot. (See above.)
