This was what we would call a five o’clock feeding.
The two nestlings push Astrid back as they attempt to feed themselves a few times. She feeds them as quickly as possible while they continue to beg for more!
Too hot for a lot of meals this afternoon….this meal had to hold them over until just after 7 tonight.
Here was a feeding from early this evening. Note how the nestling tracks its parent coming to the box with food. Also note the wing/tail feather development and mask which is particularly evident in the older chick.
