Pictures of the new Hatching are Here

The first sighting of the new hatchling Peregrine Falcon was at 6:14 PM Sunday Evening. Also, a second egg appears to have been pipped. Here are some stills from the web cam that have just become available.

Peregrine 5-18-14 L
When the chick first emerged from its shell it was very pink. When it was seen a short time later it had dried off and was all white

We were surprised to see the parents already trying to feed the nestling. Typically falcons will wait a day before doing this

  1. like this video (live link)
    does it also have audio?
as the young get larger will the video show a lager view of the nest and ledge where they are residing?

PA has a set of moving cams and very clear audio of their resident pair of falcons (and their 4 young, hatched much earlier ) for their capital city (something similar would be nice here for these )

    1. We don’t yet have audio capability. We plan to add that along with a 2nd camera in the next phase of the project which will take place after this nesting season. We are very much just starting out with the Utica Peregrine Falcon Project and we hope to improve things as we go.
